Aussie sports betting growing at 10x the rate of video poker

The ‘pokies’ or video poker machines get all the ink when the Australian media talks about gambling, but that may be changing. True, pokies account for 71% of gambling turnover, but that number may have peaked, as sports betting is growing at a rate ten times that of the ubiquitous machines. What’s more, sports betting growth is being driven by younger demographics, a sharp distinction from the ‘old fogies on pokies’ image (a similar age-related phenomenon is being observed in America, as well), which bodes well for sports betting’s future growth.
