The favourite for the Kentucky Derby, Eskendereya, has been declared a non-runner by trainer Todd Pletcher after developing a problem with his left foreleg. The news will come as a huge blow to racing fans, many of whom had backed Eskendereya into 2/1 after watching him dominating the fields in both the Wood Memorial and the Fountain of Youth Stakes and putting in peerless speed figures on dirt. Pletcher will probably now throw caution to the wind and enter Devil May Care into the mix, making her the only filly in the race. Read more.
