Florida signs $1B+ deal with Seminole Indian casinos

LetsMakeADealFlorida Governor Charlie Crist saw his first two attempts at striking a deal with the state’s Seminole Indian casinos shot down, but the third time proved the charm. Crist announced a deal today that will allow the Seminoles to offer card games at five of its seven casinos, for which the state will receive $1B+ over the deal’s five-year term. Florida’s jai alai, horse- and dog-racing industries, which had opposed the plan previously, accepted tax breaks and extra operating hours in return for signing off on the deal.
