The bill to open up France’s online betting market has been passed by a vote of 181-140 in the French senate. The proposal, which will bring an end to the monopoly currently held by Pari-Mutuel Urbain and Française des Jeux, will now return to the Chambres des Députés for a second reading on March 30, in the hopes of being enacted in time for the World Cup this summer.
