Fixed-odds betting terminals banned from Irish shops

IrieVukSo much for the luck of the Irish. Gambling laws in Ireland are in for an update and one of the government recommendations is said to be a ban on the introduction of fixed-odds betting terminals in bookmakers’ shops. British bookmakers are allowed two such machines per shop, with each generating an average of £685/week in 2009. Perhaps the Irish Bookmakers’ Association could use this fact to get the government to change its mind, as there are few arguments more persuasive on the Emerald Isle than “If a bloody Englishman can do it…” Read more.
