Piss poor form from Paddy Power
Don’t know what eating Calvin this morning but it certainly ain’t that fit one from the Corrs. I think he’s gone off his Guinness in all coz I woke up to find him shooting his air rifle at cans of the black stuff in his back garden this morning wearing a Thierry Henry France football shirt.
Ah, looking at this scrunched up press release, I reckon I know what’s up. He’s gone off the Irish and it ain’t got nothing to do with him being barred from The Tipperary last weekend neither. Apparently Paddy Power have been rippin’ off Bodog again – nickin’ material quicker than John Terry’s mum in Marks ’n’ Sparks.
Last week the Paddies got caught with their pants down robbing Bodog’s Super Bowl odds – and this week they’re at it again, trying to claim a ‘world first’ by offering live betting on Eastenders’ ‘Who killed Archie Mitchell?’ live episode, which airs live on Friday.
Hmm, nice idea, wonder where they got that one from? Oh, yeah, that’ll be Bodog again.
And if you don’t believe me here’s the proof. The original press release from Bodog, went out on 16 February. Have a butcher’s here. Bringing up the rear, in more ways than one, come those groundbreakers, or is that ballbreakers, from Dublin here.
Word has it Paddy Power used to copy all the time in their early days, when Blue Square outed them by deliberately posting the wrong odds to see if they would take the bait. They took the bait alright, hook, line and sinker. Why else d’you think they got the nickname Green Square?
Still, do I look bovvered? If I want soap opera I’ll watch what’s going on at Albert Square not Green Square – even if the Paddies are about as original as Jordan’s Bristols. In the meantime, reckon I’ll nick off out and dodge the bullets today, but I’ll have a night in front of the box tomorrow night and a few bob on Peggy Mitchell who’s into 12/1 from 20s. Don’t think the Irish will be seeing any of my reddies, mind.
