The evening ended with double vision

A busy week for the gambling industry got under way in style in London last night as the online and offline community rubbed shoulders, clinked glasses and celebrated their overachievers at the International Gaming awards.

After surviving the red carpet welcome from Calvinayre.com stalker reporter Rebecca Liggero, the glitterati enjoyed a champagne reception at the Millennium Hotel before witnessing Ladbrokes, PKR, Playtech and Cashcade, to mention but four winners, receive due recognition for their work in their various fields of online expertise.

With Ms Liggero conducting the auction halfway through the evening and helping raise £16,600 for Children with Leukaemia – which the Calvin Ayre Foundation agreed to match for CARE international – and the Ayre Heads lending a pleasing smattering of glamour to the occasion, the Oscars of the gaming industry proved to be a memorable occasion. Twins Kirsty and Sara, who were somehow crowbarred into Ladbrokes MD of eGaming Ed Andrewes’ brief acceptance speech, made it doubly memorable.

And the winners were…
